It is the beginning of the school year, children across the country are getting ready to learn and are very excited about going back to school, to see their friends, learn reading, writing and arithmetic and oh so much more than when I was back in school.   Are they thinking about what they want to be when they grow up or just wanting to play football or volleyball?
I am De Helmer the current Director of College and Career Readiness at Goliad ISD.  I am excited about my new position as I hope to make a difference with the future of Goliad, Texas, USA and the world.   I am also a mother of three adult children, Zach who started college at VC and is now working at a plant in Port Lavaca, Hannah who is working at a Cell Phone Repair place and Sarah who is currently at Texas State not really knowing what she wants to be when she grows up.
I am starting this Blog to share my lessons and help other students, achieve their college or career dream and help parents start preparing as well.  PS.  I am a big fan of NCIS and Gibbs rules so we will have Helmer's rules :)
Helmer Rule 1 - be looking at colleges you are interested in and check out the requirements to get in.  What ACT or SAT score does Texas State for example need.

Helmer Rule 2 - start studying and testing just like anything in life practice makes you better and that is true on your tests.

I will be offering a test study session for ACT on Sunday, September 24th from 2-4pm.
